DesignFiles Versus Mydoma: Which Software Is Right for You?

Wavering between DesignFiles and Mydoma?

Both companies offer easy-to-use, cloud-based software to help you run design projects and keep in touch with clients from anywhere in the world. But there are some differences between them.

Below, we compare these two platforms in terms of customer reviews, features, and pricing to help you decide which one is right for you.

Because MyDoma was recently purchased by Studio Designer, it’s unclear if MyDoma will continue to exist as a separate entity or if it will eventually be merged into the Studio Designer platform. So, if you are looking for a bit more certainty in the future of your chosen software, let’s look at alternatives that may be a great fit for you.

DesignFiles versus Mydoma: PRICING

DesignFiles offers two main pricing tiers: $49 per month for the e-Design plan and $69 per month for the Full Service plan. The main difference between these two plans is that the Full Service plan grants you access to quotes, invoices, purchase orders, the time tracker, financial reports, and the QuickBooks integration.

Mydoma offers three main plans: $49 per month for the Starter plan, $69 per month for Professional, and $99 per month for Professional Team. The Professional and Professional Team plans offer all of the basic features plus time tracking, purchase orders, task management, reporting, and the Quickbooks integration.

So as you can see, the way these companies structure their pricing is quite similar.

Some reasons why designers choose DesignFiles over MyDoma:

  • Lower ACH Processing Fees – DesignFiles caps ACH fees at $10—allowing you and your clients to save tons of money on processing fees.
  • No Rendering Limitations: You’ll have to pay an additional $30/month for the Coohom visualizer in MyDoma if you want to share, edit, or duplicate projects and to remove the MyDoma Watermark. At that price it’s actually cheaper for you to buy Coohom separately for $25/month and not have these limitations. All DesignFiles plans allow for the ability to edit, share and duplicate projects and there is no DesignFiles watermark.
  • No Project Data Historial Limit: Be sure to check the limitations on MyDoma project history. They change based on the plan you purchase. Projects can be erased from your account after a certain time frame. With DesignFiles there is no limitation on project history. Project information is stored forever unless you choose to delete it.

Easier to Use for Both You and Your Client: If you have clients that are not super tech savvy and you’re looking for software that will be easy for them to interact with, DesignFiles is well known for their focus on building intuitive and easy to use software. It’s one of the biggest reasons designers choose DesignFiles over other platforms.
  • Constantly Updating and Improving Based on Member Feedback: DesignFiles regularly pushes updates to the platform every couple of weeks. All updates are based on what is most requested by their members so you can count on the platform continuing to grow with your business to meet your needs.
